Toledo City Council approves new Community Entertainment Districts in Downtown Toledo

On April 12, 2022, Toledo City Council voted to establish seven new Community Entertainment Districts (CEDs) in downtown Toledo. ConnecToledo Downtown Development Corporation worked with the City of Toledo and business community to facilitate the implementation of the CEDs as a resource to spur further economic growth and development.

State Recognition for Downtown Toledo Black Owned Businesses

The Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose highlighted eight Black-Owned businesses in Ohio that “have shown what hard work looks like, continue to make their communities better, and inspire others to chase their entrepreneurial dreams.” We are proud that two of those eight are located right here in downtown Toledo!

Lunch at Levis Food Truck Selection

It's that time - we're getting ready for a summer of fun with Lunch at Levis. Lunch At Levis, the popular daytime concert series, returns for its 17th season. The 17-week series kicks off on June 2 and runs—Thursdays—until September 22 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Live entertainment, food vendors, and other activities are highlights of downtown’s biggest event during the work week.

Downtown Toledo Businesses Named Top Workplaces

We are thrilled to see so many downtown businesses on the Top Workplaces 2022 List! The list is determined by an employee engagement survey. According to Energage, the company administering the survey, “Creating a Top Workplace is about more than offering great benefits and vacation time. It’s about organizational health. Employees want to align with the company’s vision, be challenged by a high-performance culture, and feel that they are valued and that their voices are heard.”

Northwestern Mutual opens at Fort Industry

There’s a new business in the neighborhood! Northwestern Mutual is the first tenant to move into Fort Industry Square. This move welcomes 25 financial representatives and advisors, 25 support staff members and 30 local interns to downtown Toledo.

ConnecToledo Receives National Award for The Downtown Toledo Master Plan

ConnecToledo has received the coveted Award of Excellence for their Downtown Toledo Master Plan at the International Downtown Association’s (IDA) annual conference. Receiving the award in the Planning, Design, and Infrastructure category, was Cindy Kerr, vice president.

Downtown Toledo flourishing with new retail and restaurants opening

A new year means new restaurants and retail are making a home in downtown! In 2021 alone, we’ve seen the opening of Firefly, Copper Bowl Luxury Nail Bar and Grindhrs Co. During 2020, businesses with great fortitude open their doors during a tumultuous year. We commend them for their vision.

Site Selection magazine names Toledo No. 1 for new business investment

Site Selection Magazine has named Toledo number one for new business investment for metropolitan areas with populations between 200,000 and one million. There are approximately $2.2 billion worth of projects currently underway or recently completed that are expected to create nearly 3,5oo new permanent jobs and 1,079 new residential units.

Downtown Toledo Historic District

ConnecToledo Downtown Development Corporation is leading the work on creating a historic district in cooperation with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). If you are a property owner within the boundaries of this proposed district, you are invited to participate in a Zoom call. An overview will be given and there will be time for Q&A.
